Costume Details
Our brown pareus,

Action
"We see a double canoe filled with already dressed up girls
and boys, rushing through the water, apparently coming from a
neighboring village to join the festivities."

Double canoe (camera left canoe blue, right, white) decorated
with garlands of ferns interspersed with flowers, mostly red
single hibiscus, going all the way round each canoe over gun-
wale; also all the way across the two poles that join the
canoes. At each end joining bows and sterns is strung a garland
of ferns interspersed with red hibiscus and white flowers.
In each canoe are five people (young men and girls). They
paddle quickly camera right to left, toward camera, talking,
laughing and singing, until they come quite close to camera.
(Canoe starts from under a leaning coconut tree, with reef
and Tautira in b.g.) to camera left is sandspit jutting out
into water just before where canoe starts from. To camera
right is the shore with coconut trees. Camera is on low bridge;
canoe paddles to bridge.
