Take No. XX-43
Action
He places a yellow hibiscus the flower, as a finishing
touch to her hair arrangement, over
her right ear. That gives her, who has tried
already to give him little smiles of
assurance, now quite a grateful, re-
lieved smile. She buries her head in
his chest, a little ashamed of what
she has done. Then she reaches out
and takes the flower from her ear.
Wistfully looking at him she reaches
out over her head for a few more
flowers on bread fruit leaves, and starts to put them to-
gether, as though continuing beginning a wreath.
Matahi starts a song; later on Reri
takes up the chorus.
Notes
Maybe he puts first
tiare Tahiti in her
hair
Matahi then would
put [?] flowers
over her right
ear.
Comment
The take number, added by hand, and the notes are from Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau. The red double lines make an association to pp. 16-23 of the film script and denote the "Bora" theme (see the film script, p. 23).
