has eloped with a young man of her
island. This certainly means
trouble between the two islands;
moreover it may mean trouble to
himself, inasmuch as he had been
entrusted with the mission. Will
it be safe for him to come back to
the island for trade? Following
his long knowledge of the islands
and the sacredness of this taboo
of all taboos, which has been
violated, he wonders what will come
of all this. What will this village
do to pacify the rage of the chief
who rules over all these islands?
