[The policeman. Suddenly he throws his
police helmet on a shelf and in a great
hurry tears off his offical coat. There
he is now in his undershirt. He reaches
out for a native straw hat, and with a
swagger gesture he puts it on the back
of his head. Then he looks into a half-
broken mirror and decided to tip the hat
over his left ear. With a bound of joy
he reaches out and picks up an old
accordeon and starts up a tune; then he
swings himself gaily out of the scene -
just another half-caste out for a good
time.]
