[Everybody runs out, Matahi and Reri
trying to run out as the rest do, but
they are stopped by a Chinaman who pre-
sents ten or twelve bills, all written
in Chinese. He has a wet brush in
his hand and urges Matahi to sign.
Matahi laughing, not knowing what he is
doing, considering this another joke,
does as the Chinaman asks and paints
awkward M‘s on each paper. Then they
run out. The Chinaman smiles after them.]
