Action
Shot from water toward shore with [?] some of gift-loaden canoes
on one side. Chief’s double canoe is swung in + paddles forming a
kind of aisle. We see through this aisle + through hut on the canoe the
approach of procession. Chief hands Reri over to old guide. a song
starts. Reri’s father + mother take leave. Reri is moved into the
canoe. Canoe swings. We see Reri sitting on starboard side. Her
mother rushes to her side, takes her hand + presses it against her own
cloak. While canoe moves out she follows (camera following her)
swimming. Then Reri is pulled away from her. We see the
mother’s head in the water. Canoe glides away from her. '
